Ive started using windows 7 and to stop me having to rescrobble my whole Zen, i copied the programme and data straight to my new installation. However, it authenticates and simply hangs on loading. It can find my zen and fetch the tracks but just updates the local database and then does nothing after it finishes.
How do you mean it authenticates and then hangs on loading? Do any tracks appear in the unscrobbled table / tab? You should be able to select them and then hit 'scrobble'.
nothing appears in scrobble history or unscrobble tracks. It just says loading in the corner and stays that way
I tried out a fresh install and the same problem again.
Its authenticates and sets the scrobble from date to the last time i scrobbled something, but just hangs on "loading..."
Could you run the debugger and post or email us the log? We've tested on Windows 7 x86 and x64, so it should be working fine.
It wouldnt let me send an email so heres the log. I could post it all so ive pasted just the bit before it lists all the tracks:

You will need to send us the whole log, please send it too; zenses2@googlegroups.com
I get a noreply saying the group doesnt exist
Humm ok, send it to me at; zenses@sixones.com
What it does is it updates my local database, once completed it says "Device tracks collected and ready for scrobbling" however there is nothing in my unscrobbled list or scrobble history.
However, it does authenticate with last.fm and gets the last time and date i scrobbled using zenses.
Ive fixed it:
Cleared app data Cleared temp folder Deleted zenses Fresh install Fetch Zen Ignore all tracks
Gonna miss out on around 100 or so plays but oh well
I've got incorrect MTP name. When I press "Find devices", my Creative ZEN Vision:M appears as "1" or "a" or sth like that. I'm using Windows 7.
It displays the device name, not the model. Mine shows as "Gareth" as opposed to "Zen X-Fi"
If you dont have a device name set you might see some strange characters appearing in the device list.
I have set device name. But Zenses show me "a" or for example (when I ran it few minutes ago) "□" instead of "M1 / VADER".
Is that from your Creative Zen Vision:M?
Having the same problem on Windows 7, 64bit, with a Creative Zen Vision: M. Getting a weird character in the device name. I click "fetch tracks," and it counts some 5k+ tracks at the bottom, but when I go to unscrobbled tracks nothing is listed at all.
This is using 2.05b2.
Vader, i get a feeling it could be because of your OS language not being english. Certain characters or languages cant be displayed in certain versions of programmes for example if i copy and paste say russian into a programme, it can just come up as squares and rectangles.
Nathan, try a complete uninstall, delete the temporary folder than comtains a zenses log in c:\, the folder in programme files and the folder thats under your programme files in your username folder, its sometimes hidden so youll have to show hidden files and folders then delete it.
Got rid of all of those, and reinstalled. Still see the same strange icons in the device drop down. A square, something that looks like pi. Then it says device tracks collected and ready for scrobbling, but says it has 0 tracks with a duration of 0.
Opened it up again, hit fetch, says it found 5k something tracks again...but the unscrobbled tracks is blank. There isn't even the title and track info at the top.
Can you run the debugger (http://forum.sixones.com/discussion/22/running-the-debugger/) and send us the output? It sounds like your player isnt storing the play counts or Zenses isnt getting them from the device correctly.
I'm having this same problem since moving to Windows 7, each time Zenses 'finds' the device it comes up as a different 1 character symbol, then when I fetch tracks it returns nothing.
I'll run the debugger...just gotta bring the zen in from the car one of these days.
Tried to run it. The cmd prompt window opens and then shuts really fast. Tried as an administrator, tried with windows xp compatibility...still nothing.
It dumps the text file into your C:\Temp folder :)
And I'm saying it doesn't dump anything there. :)
What OS are you running on that the debugger doesnt work? Make sure your using the latest Zenses version!
windows 7.....64 bit...home premium. double click, opens really fast and closes...so whatever it's supposed to do, it's not. Hopefully one of the others can confirm that.
Nathan: The run will be pretty fast, but it definitely should dump stuff into c:/temp. Do you have temp directory on c: (if not, create it)? Can you check if you can copy anything into it using same user that runs the debugger?
I've tried running the debugger and have the same problem, nothing is in C:/temp. I am on Windows 7 Professional 64bit. I can copy things into the temp folder so that's not the problem.
AH wait, tried it a couple more time and it worked. Sending it now.
so i clicked the file over and over and over....and I could read it say something about java not being a recognized external application or something.
And yah, I have the temp folder....but it doesn't put anything there.
Nathan: aaaaah, that's a different beast. You would need to make sure that you have Java on your path. Normally that's done automatically for you when you install JRE, but maybe something went wrong. Open command line and type
echo %PATH%
You should see in the printed string something similar C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\TortoiseSVN\bin;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_10\bin;L:\maven-2.2.1\bin;L:\android-sdk-windows\tools;C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin
In particular, you expect there one of the folders in c:\Program Files\Java . If nothing relating to Java appears there, you need to reinstall your JRE and that should do the trick. Or set the PATH to correct value - whatever seems easier. I'm actually surprised that zenses itself starts to be honest... :)
I downloaded the newest JRE...installed....and same thing. I got this when I did echo %path%:
C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\Wind owsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTSystem\
How do I set the correct path? Thanks for the help.
Any ideas on this? Sounds like someone was able to get a debug done.
No solution yet. Mine has randomly started working though. The device still show up with a random 1 character name when i click find devices (and it changes each time) but it now fetchers tracks and lets me scrobble them ok.
Just piping up to say I was having the same problem (for months) after upgrading to 64-bit W7 Pro and finally got it to work today -- by doing a clean uninstall (making sure to look for hidden files, too), restarting and reinstalling. After I reinstalled, it didn't want to find my Zune... until I opened the task manager and closed some weird straggler zune and itunes processes that were still running.... and now it's working. Fingers crossed that it keeps working, since I loved using this app on Vista and miss having it on W7 :)
I'm having many of the problems described. The strange character being detected instead of a name, fetching tracks and no change, etc. I sent an e-mail to SixOnes @ Zenses@sixones.com
